Earlier this month, I signed up for a Guest Post Swap and got paired with Anda from The Home of the Twisted Red Lady Bug. We are swapping blogs for the day, so be a dear and check out what this fellow expat has to say! Spoiler alert: she talks about travelling to places I have only ever dreamed of going to thus far.
After you’re done reading her post, please head on over here to read mine. Spoiler alert again: it’s about my favorite royals.
Dearest friends and future friends 🙂
My name is Anda Alexandra but the close ones call me “The LadyBug” and that is why my blog, The Home of the Twisted Red Lady Bug, is also named like that.
I have today the honor of presiding for a day over Dee’s blog as she is my Guest Post Swap partner so I will try doing my best not to make you yawn. Dee likes also to travel and you can see her Travelogues on subjects like: Philippines, Singapore and Asia. I hope that one day I will also get to visit those lovely places but for the time being I can just plan.
I am an Expat! And I am proud to say that! It takes a jump and an act of faith to go into the unknown by yourself and that I did. I was born in Iasi, Romania, and I am currently living in magical Krakow, Poland. As I always like presenting myself I am “A LadyBug who is an Expat, Travel Lover, Photo Maniac – Living in Magical Krakow – Born and Raised in The Vampire Land but not afraid of Garlic ;)”
But that is not all… Soon I shall be getting married to this lovely, proud and smart Polish young man that I love with all my heart. When I came to Krakow I was set up to stay here for a maximum of 6 months, gain some experience, and then move on to England and then Ireland (a place I always loved since I was a wee lass!) – but life is never what you make of it and someone up there always has something better planned for you. That is how I met my fiance and remained here 🙂
I am a Traveler! I loved traveling since I was in my mother’s womb. She was pregnant with me when she was traveling to Croatia and I am proud to say that I got the “traveling disease” from her. 😉
My first true trip out of borders was to Greece and I fell in love with that place at first sight! For me few places feel like home but Greece was the first one I truly felt like home. The first place I could have a normal sun tan without getting burn! (I have very very very sensitive skin and I mostly get red and never get some nice tan… I always wear sunscreen for kids!). The first place I lost weight eating normally the food they usually eat – that is why I began loving olives and olive oil! It does wonders! I love Greek history and their way of being 🙂 I was starting University when I had my first trip and it opened my appetite for more… That is why I stopped going to the seaside in Romania and switched to the Greek seaside – fine sand and clear blue water with small little fishes nibbling at your toes…

At my second year of University I was given the opportunity to go through the Work & Travel Program to the USA and I spent almost 4 glorious months on American Land 🙂 And I got to see The Big Apple, Philadelphia, Harvard, Boston and the awesomely amazing Niagara Falls… I made a lot of friends and memories that will last me a lifetime. America is indeed the country of all opportunities 😉

Then Europe came along with old yet modern and crowded and artistic and politic Rome; Gaudi like Sangria and Paella based Barcelona & Paris a city of wonders and art and joie de vivre that everyone would love and love to hate at the same time… DO NOT miss Versailles and leave a full day for it! and then England and crazy London with its Royals that I adore! (just like Dee!!!) and lovely Vienna for my future husband’s 30 year old birthday. ;)))
